Let this be the year you finally host the dinner party you’ve been dreaming of for years.

No. 1: Define a mantra

Choose three words that will help to inspire the energy, vibe, and atmosphere that you want to create. The words I used to create the mood surrounding my dinner party were warmth, connection, and gratitude. You can always use these words to come back to throughout your planning process.

No. 2: Serve a signature cocktail

Signature cocktails are a great way to help your guests feel festive and cared for at your gathering. Mulled wine is a perfect drink for a gathering in the fall or winter. It’s warm, comforting, smells amazing, and is easy to prepare in large batches ahead of time.

No. 3: Try a simple cheese board

As much as I love an extravagant cheese board, it really would be overkill when you’re doing an entire meal. A minimal cheese board is just as beautiful and gives your guests something to snack on.

No. 4: Prepare in advance

In any kind of gathering, you really want to do everything you can to make things easy for yourself as the host! You have to be strategic about the dishes you serve and keep in mind their cooking and preparation times.

In our latest Harvest Dinner Masterclass (join Inner Muse and get instant access when it drops!) every single recipe can be prepared in advance so that you can truly enjoy yourself when your guests arrive.

No. 5: Keep the decor simple

When I’m preparing a meal like this and focusing so heavily on all the beautiful, seasonal bounty — I like to keep the table decor simple. For today’s dinner party, I chose to add some touches of eucalyptus down the center of the table and a few white pumpkins for a festive feel.

I hope these tips will help inspire and empower you to host your dream fall gathering this season!
