DIY Tie-Dye Tissue Paper
I am so excited to bring you all another amazing art project led by my good friend, mentor, and fine artist Renee Phillips! In this week’s video, we are embracing the everlasting trend of tie-dye with some DIY colorful tie-dye tissue paper.
I love this project because it is so fun and freeing to create. It’s appropriate for any skill level, and the possibilities are literally endless in terms of color combinations and design.
DIY tie-dye tissue paper is not only a way to get your creativity flowing but also a way to put a personal, stylish flare on any gifts you give throughout the year.
If you want to learn how to incorporate your tissue paper into your own complete art piece, be sure to check out our Mixed Media Masterclass, which is this month’s project in the Inner Muse Membership! You can also purchase the class individually here.
Fill cups with water (remember: the more water you use, the more translucent your paper will be).
Add your favorite colors to the cups. Make it your own! Mix different colors as you wish until you get your desired result.
Use an empty cup to mix each of your colors with the water until it’s fully mixed.
Lay down a trash bag first and then lay your tissue paper on top (keep in mind that if your trash bag has wrinkles, this will show up on your paper –– which is your choice to incorporate as the artist!).
Saturate the tissue paper using your water bottle.
Start pouring your paint. Be free with it and have fun!
That’s it! When the paper is finished drying, you’ll have your own unique and personalized tie-dye tissue paper to use any way you’d like.
P.S. Don’t miss our interview with Renee, as part of our new series, Creativity, Unplugged.
